Hopefully they are ready to go today...going to be a busy final stretch, where by they will have to deal with adversity, injuries, bad breaks etc. It’s a great lead up to the playoffs. Hopefully they start to lock it down a bit better in their own end today. |

If the Flyers can win today that would add up to a solid weekend results wise. 3 out of 4 points would be great in a road back to back. Not happy with blowing two goal leads yesterday but they gutted out a point. |

I’m not sure if you read Charlie O’connor’s take over on tha athletic but he really made some good points in defending Hak and some of his uses for both forwards and defence. Basically suggesting we have two third pairings on d and two fourth lines. Can’t really argue with that analysis, which points to the depth of talent that becomes more apparent against a team like Tampa.
The good news is the Flyers have some guys up in Lehigh that should supplant some of these fringe guys sooner then later.

Ya....the Flyers are slowly coming out of the forest of mediocrity...pretty sure moving a cornerstone of the franchise isn’t in their plans.

Maybe but, if that's so, even in his obvious decline, Filppula (10 goals, 29 points overall and 25 points at even strength) is still a pretty good 4th line player. In fact, the Flyers have three guys in double digit goals -- Filppula, Laughton and Raffl -- among their group of six players of fourth-line caliber. A lot of teams would gladly take that. |

Can't really argue with that. Outside of the top 6 forwards, Raffl is likely the only real 3rd line player and he is just so damn streaky. Weal at times can be that guy too, but he tends to disappear for too many long stretches to be a top 9 forward on a good team. If you took the best attributes from Laughton and Filppula and could merge them into one player, you'd have a good 3C. However, both at this point are better off playing the 4C role. Lehtera is simply a 4th liner due to his skating limitations and honestly, Leier and Weise have no business being in the lineup of a good or even a bubble team.
On D, O'Connor is right on the money. Both Gudas and AMac can be used on a 2nd pairing and perhaps even Hagg as well, but each needs to be paired with a strong, skilled partner that can be the anchor for the pair and the Flyers just don't have that guy, at least at the NHL level right now. Manning and Oduya are 6/7 guys who would be spare players on a good team.
It is what it is, at least I'm confident that help will soon be on the way via their prospects.

I will take 3 out of 4 pts anytime playing back to back road games. |

I agree as well. That's been the issue for a while now. Guys aren't slotted correctly. Once sanheim and or morin make the jump and get acclimated, then hopefully it allows the 5, 6,7 to slot correctly. Same with the forwards. Need to bring in some talent from the prospects to upgrade the 3rd line. |

Also, having a consistent, legit #1 goalie would be nice too. |

That’s kinda what he was saying. It’s not that they are bad, it’s just that it’s more like having two fourth lines....it’s “high end depth” he was referring too. I mean both Filpula and Lehtera have both played in top 6 situations for good parts of their careers. I also think Raffl can bring more. To me it’s not the 4th line but the idea that talent wise we probably have two of them.....I guess if Couturier didn’t decide to have a breakout year, our third line would look a lot better...lol

I had been very happy with mrazek up until yesterday. Not sure if it's an anomaly or because it was an afternoon game etc. But yikes. That was a mess. I'd come back with him today to see how he responds. |

It’s what this team is....the top end talent has been so good this year, you start to think this team can really do some damage, but they really have a quality depth issue that is close to being addressed but not quite there yet....not that I’m going anywhere soon, but I really hope we have some of the kids ready to contribute soon. |

On the Wolverines side, second line left wing Brendan Warren scored a goal, was plus-two and had two shots on goal.
Floodgates, baby. Five years from now, this will be the acquisition that turns us into a perennial Presidents Trophy contender much like the current Caps. |
